PANAROMA ROUTE / BLYDE RIVER CANYON

While game viewing in the Kruger National Park may be seen as the main attraction of the area, there are also many other excursions to enjoy while On our Kruger Tour. So don't overlook the magnificent Panorama Route attractions that the area has to offer. A region which is best known for its secret history, cultural heritage and dramatic landscapes as it passes through the rugged northern Drakensberg Mountains.

The most spectacular stretch of the Panorama Route is the Blyde River Canyon (proclaimed as a nature reserve in 2004) with its dramatic mountain scenery and panoramic views over the escarpment. The 25,000 hectare Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve starts at 'The Pinnacle' and follows a winding path for 26 kilometres via 'God's Window' and 'Bourke's Luck Potholes' to the 'Three Rondawels'.

It is the third largest canyon in the world with a drop of 800m (half a mile), the second largest canyon in Africa and the only green canyon in the world boasting a rich diversity of plants.

 BUSH WALK

Duration : 4 Hours

This activity provides guests with the opportunity to take part in daily early morning guided walks. Up to eight guests are taken out of the camp's boundaries to explore the surrounding wilderness areas adjacent to the camp.

These interesting spots make for exciting time-fillers, as experienced (and armed) guides share their knowledge of the fauna and flora to explain natural wonders. The walks are relaxed and don't take longer than a few hours, so no over exhaustion will take place.

Two armed field guides accompany you on the walk in order to ensure your safety, they will focus on the things that you will usually not be able to see from a vehicle. By being out on foot you cover an area more intensely and you are able to experience nature using all of your senses. If there is any large game in the area you are more than likely able to encounter them and have an exhilarating experience of approaching them on foot.
